Travelling solo means doing a lot of things on you

Travelling solo means doing a lot of things on your own… hiking to waterfalls, watching sunsets, relaxing at thermal spas, singing along to bangers in the car, awhing at breathtaking views, going out for dinner and asking for a table for 1 and so much more.

It’s a strange feeling, especially when you’re at this time in your life where you’re watching friends get married or start families… it can make you feel more alone than ever.

But then, you remind yourself how many people dream of experiences like this, and how lucky you are to be living and exploring on the other side of the world 🌏 and how this time on your own is gifted. Flipping the script and instead using this time alone as a love letter to myself and asking myself ‘What’s going to nourish me, right now?’

I’ve spoken to a few friends who’ve recently travelled or moved abroad and I’ve realised we’re all experiencing these ups and downs in this journey.

And there are many layers to this settling, and I’m sure they can still be there whether you’re on your own, with a partner or a friend. One minute I can be in sweet bliss and gratitude, the next “wtf am I doing here?”.

So here’s to the beauty in the transitions, journeying through the layers and learning to surrender into the unknown.

A few more snippets from Wellington last week (including my 2nd home… the scenic sauna) and then my arrival in Christchurch reuniting with my other bestie @helensianindia 🥰

Tuning into a slower pace of life here, mainly because I haven’t got anywhere to be at the mo, which has been a challenge I’m not gonna lie but now plans are starting to form and take shape.

And certainly not in the way that I thought they would be before I got here. So I’m still learning to let that go and be open to it all! 🙏🏽

But for now it’s hot yoga, online website work, welcoming new online clients, baby cuddles, dog cuddles and more hot yoga 😁🫶🏽

My practice some days looks like this. Moving in ways that feel good. Getting into those sweet spots. Holding things out of alignment that just feel good and watching a huge aeroplane land at the airport across the bay.

Today I needed slow and sunshine. Right now my body is calling for slow. I’m in my luteal phase and taking it chill after a week of blasting out 10-15k steps a day.

Todays sunshine was lovely ☀️
